School Address Assignment Plan
Unless there are programmatic student needs such as Special Education or ESOL services, the Wichita Public Schools typically assigns students to schools based on residential address. If a particular address is located within a boundary of a school, the student will be assigned to that school. Special Transfers and Non-Resident Enrollment
Students that wish to attend a neighborhood school other than their address assigned must complete and be approved for a special transfer. The transfer should always begin with the address assigned neighborhood school and then be forwarded to the requested school. special transfer request forms should be available at all neighborhood schools. Be aware of the fact that not all transfers are guaranteed. Their approval is dependent on the recommendation of both the address assigned and requested schools' administrators. In order to recommend approval or denial for a transfer, school administrators typically look at a variety of factors that, among others, include school capacity, ESOL availability, and Special Education services. Students that wish to enroll in our schools, but reside outside of USD 259 boundaries may request a special transfer to enroll as a non-resident student. The transfer request forms for these students only need to be approved by the USD 259 school requested. To receive and fill out a special transfer request form please contact your address assigned neighborhood school. Please note that special transfers do not apply to gain acceptance into our magnet schools.
